The Royal Library has for many years wished to give both its users and the public in general an introduction to its wealth of rare or significant books, manuscripts, archival materials, maps, pictures and music works which often are only familiar to specialists, and sometimes not even to them. The library has therefore, taken the opportunity provided by its two hundred year anniversary as a public national library on Nov. 15, 1993 to publish such book.
